A colleague is currently trying to buy a house in one of those purple bits. Last weekend she bid $20,000 over asking (on a $400,000 little box in one of the less attractive developing areas). She didn't get it, there were a total of 15 offers. So, yes, where there are lots of jobs, there's lots of demand for houses.
