Hi all, thanks for your replies to my other threads.
I have just been offered a job ( woohoooooo) on Vanc Island, exactly where we wanted to be, and doing what i wanted to do, and am sooooooo very chuffed......
What we arent sure of is how do we now proceed.
Our applications for PR have been in 16 months now, and we hadnt planned to come over until they were through, but now the job offer has changed it all.
What do i have to do, in respect of getting onto a work permit, getting the offer ratified etc, all our research has been for PR, and not this channel.
What our next step?
Helppppppppppppppppppp

Your potential employer will have to apply for a LMO (see site) on your behalf to secure you a work permit so you can commence employment. This should result in your PR application being fast-tracked, perhaps to completion 12 months from now. I am not an expert but I have researched this myself and this should give you a start!
Good luck. Providing your future employer jumps through the requisite hoops you should be fine.

Hi there. Your work permit application would be processed much quicker than that. It is your application for PR which would, hopefully, be finalsed quickly whilst you were working on the work permit. The website should explain much better than me! Best wishes.

thankyou, I guess what id like to get to is a "real time" appreciation of what generally happens in a typical case like this, what i can expect to happen, and what would normally happen to Mr Average in a typical case, using peoples experience of what happened to them in a similar situation.
Sometimes, the rules and regs do not give a feel of what can actually happen.

I am currently working as a sales manager but my background is educationally in the arts: not particularly useful for securing a job from afar as I have no 'proveable' skills such as yourself. I have a Masters degree in American Literature, for example, which although lovely and all that isn't that altogether useful for securing jobs! I also have experience as an editor for an academic publishing firm. Fingers crossed I will find something.

Hi KJM,
well, to be honest, the offer was through a friend of a friend, and we just got talking, he decided he wanted me to do what I do for him, so it wasnt a formal approach to a Company, just a bit of luck.
