IQAS Difficulties
#1
I find myself in a bit of a situation and wondered whether the sages on this board may be of assistance or give advice. A part of my job, I have been requested to join a professional society. On both their membership system and The alberta IQAS site I am running into the same issue. In order to have my qualifications recognized, I'm requested to provide the transcripts from my graduate & postgraduate degree courses. The only problem is that when I was in university in the UK transcripts were never kept/provided to students.
Has anyone else run into this and how did you resolve it?

No, I'm saying that the university never kept them. In my undergraduate years (1980-84) nobody ever mentioned them and the university has said they didn't produce them. For my masters degree (1992-94) the course work did not figure in reckoning. Pass or fail was based solely on final exam results

Which Uni did you attend? I was reading Roehampton Uni blurb and they said that degree transcripts/certificates covering up to the 1984 period can be obtained from the University of London.. I wondered if perhaps your Uni has the same.. I can do some digging if it would help?.

Hi,
I did get my exams recognised by IQAS Alberta. I did have transcripts for my BSc but no other documentation for my PhD.
I did have to get in touch with the universities to directly and independently send the form and transcripts to IQAS as required.
I had to pay for this service through their online shop and had a contact at the uni to discuss requirements with.
I think most universities will be used to such requests and know what action to take accordingly! I would get in touch with them and the IQAS service explaining the situation and sure they will advise you. Good luck !

I ran into a similar issue when I needed to apply for certification for my professional designation too. I needed to contact the university directly, speak to the appropriate person and they sent them directly to the organisation. Until that time, I never knew that such things existed either and, when I first contacted the university, they said they didn't exist as well.

BSc University of Surrey 1980-84 I have a letter from them saying they didn't have transcripts from that time.
MSc Loughborough University of Technology (this was a pert time course), as far as i was aware the pass was decided solely on final exam performance.

Certified copies of certificates and transcripts are available for a charge through the University's online store. (Please note that if you graduated prior to 1996 you will need to contact the academic department at which you studied for a copy of the transcript.) If you have special requirements, for example you would like a transcript to be sent to World Education Services in Canada or the USA, please note this in the additioal information section of your order and email instructions/the accompanying paperwork to [email protected].

I have contacted the relevant department and they have to search paper records in the archive (no electronic records from that time). The other problem is that when I started in 1992, the MSc course (part time) was 2 years duration with final exams at the end of the year 2. In 1993 the course changed (not for myself and other part timers entering the second year) to a series of 10-week Modules with an exam in week 10 and course work began to contribute to the module passes. It may have been at this time that transcripts became available. I'll have to wait to find out.

Good luck in your quest!

Thanks to all who chipped in with advice and help.
As it turns out, neither University kept transcripts of the time i was there. I now have to Official letters to that effect.
