Default Inventory of belongings

Is there a procedure when moving to Canada that you have to declare your belongings to customs that you're intending to bring in to the country?

If you use an international removals company how does this usually take place please?

Thanks

Matt

Yes, you declare 'goods to follow' on the customs declaration card (usually given to you before landing on your flight). On landing you'll then provide your inventory list to the customs officer who will stamp your copy issue a Form B4 to acknowledge the declaration of goods. You'll then need to attend customs with this form to clear the shipment when it arrives.

If you use an international removals company they will let you know all the documents you need (which can vary depending on your status in Canada) and explain the process to you in detail. The moving crew will provide you with the inventory you'll need for customs after they've packed.
