Hi Aditya,
Could you please post your timelines.
I got my file transfered from Buffalo to NYC Consulate in Jan 2002 and I am still waiting for the Interview. I wanted to have rough idea about the interview date. Posting of your timelines would help me in figuring that out.
I highly appreciate your reply.

if your file was transfred from Buffalo to NYC then normaly they send the interview latter after 6-7 months, my friend file was submitted to Buffalo but later Buffalo office informed him that you file has been sent to NYC and they will conduct the Interview and after that letter it took him 6 months to recieve the letter for interview at NYC and they send interviw letter 2 months advance of interview date.
In your case the reason for delay may be that YOU requested your wife file transfer and once Applicant requests for transfer of file by paying the Fees for File transfer the keep that file NOT at top, it is treated like a new file.
If you have NOT transfred your file by Paying file transfer Fee for the File transfer but actomaticaly transfred then you should send a fax to NYC.
If you have transfred your file by paying the fees then it will take time and you will NOT get any reply for your fax, they will inform you about the interview.

Current wait for the interview in NY is about 10 to 12 months from the date NY
consulate receives the file. Note that it takes about 2 to 3 months for the
actual transfer to take place from the time the notice about such transfer is
mailed by Buffalo.

Hi Manish,
Thanks for your reply and valuable information. I applied under independent category and I did not request for transfer to NYC and I was not asked to pay fee for file transfer. If I pay any kind of fee for file transfer will there be any consideration in processing quickly?
Please clarify.
And thanks for everything my friend.

I don't understand what Manish is talking about (I don't think he does either).
Buffalo transfers the file to either NY, Seattle, Los Angeles, Detroit when an
interview is required. You do not pay for transfer nor do you request a transfer.

Bala wrote this line:

he did not write that Buffalo transfred the file as routine matter for interview
Bala was not clear and that is the reason I wrote or asked if he paid for file transfer.
You know that one can get his/her file transfred by paying the fees to other consulates.
If you do not understand what I am talking about please get your knowlege updated and take few more lessons from your teacher Andrew Miller.
and keep your mouth shut.Think before writing to others or you will get the same kind of reply that you post to others.
I hope this helps

Please read Andrew reply he is 100% correct
you dont have to pay any fees, they fees for file transfre is only paid if you request file transfer from one Canadian consulate to othe Consulate , for example from Buffalo to Delhi
you have just to wait for interview call from NYC
Good Luck!!

You should note that under IRPA Part I XXVII Part 19
ELIMINATE THE FILE TRANSFER FEE The file transfer fee will not be retained under IRP
Regulations. Under IRPA, applications for visas must be made outside Canada to the
immigration office that services the applicant?s place of residence. For program
integrity reasons, the processing will be done by the office with the greatest
expertise and will only be transferred for operational reasons, without fee.
So it is CIC decision whether or not they will transfer a file. So maybe Manish
should get your facts straight.

This is according to new Law after June 28, Bala Transfred the file Jan 2002 and new law was NOT effective at that time, I thaught that he might have requested for file transfer.
