Default international hiring process in canada

Hi

can someone please help me to answer this question...

i am currently in UK and want to apply for jobs in canada as i want to permanently immigrate there. I am a BSc with 2 years exp in accounting.

please let me know how should i apply for jobs in canada from UK?

what is the hiring process there?

is it enough by just leaving your CV on monster and expect someone to call?

thanks

That should be plenty. I'd imagine you'd get job offers flooding in if you went down that route.

Hello, abbas123, and welcome to the BE forum.

Please read the BE Wiki article called Beginner's Guide to Canadian Immigration.

If your feelings are not too fragile, read the discussion thread entitled A Day in the Life of a Canadian Employer.

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't think it would be that easy for him/her

My OH is an Accountant too and what we did was arrange a trip out here and then start to submit resume with a covering letter explaining when we would be in the country and available for interview. Hubby did get a couple of interviews planned out this way before we came for a visit.

By far the best way was approaching accountants directly and asking to speak to someone on their HR team and handing the resume in personally - we then followed up the day after with a quick "hi wat did you think about my resume and do u have a job for me ?"

Hubby was really successful and had 3 job offers within a week however I do have to add that he is a Chartered Accountant with 15 years PQE and his own practising certificate for the UK so far more experience than you have but maybe someone will like the young blood in you !

Good Luck

Gaynor

That doesn't produce squat. I was lucky and got responses from emailed Resumes but others have had to work harder.

Check out the Wiki as Judy suggested, Cover Letters & the one on Resume writing. There also loads of threads covering this subject on the forum, you should be able to find these using the search function.
  • Research thoroughly
  • Prepare resume & supporting documentation
  • Create a preliminary contact list & send them a resume.
  • Visit the country at least once to meet with potential employers. More often is better
  • Build a contact list and network as much as possible
  • Send direct targeted resume/applications to new contacts or give out in person
  • Follow up

- PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS -

If you wait for someone to call, you could be waiting a very long time. Remember in many cases you need the job more than they need you. Especially as the employer may have to do a chunk of paperwork if you plan on trying to get a WP. For SW PR application, this could take many years. Few employers will wait that long.

Finding a job in most instances is very hard work, but it does happen in the end for most.
