Hi, we're looking to take out our first mortgage in Canada and we have been asked to get an 'international credit bureau'.
Presumably this is our credit history from when we lived in the UK? Would anyone on BEF have any recommendations where we can get this quickly and cheaply?

Equifax is what we used. Would it not be easier to ask them which agencies they will accept?

OOI, don't you have a credit file in Canada, credit cards, etc.?
They don;t usually ask for overseas credit history.
Equifax is used by a lot of places here so they would be the best one but shouldn;t the bank know which one to use?

We haven't been here long and thus haven't built up a significant credit history, hence them asking for our UK file.
We are dealing through a broker, not directly with a bank.

RBC and the CHMC accepted our Equifax file. Very cheap.

Also check out Genworth.ca - similar to CMHC but have a special Newcomers to Canada mortgage
