I was wondering the same thing. That Wiki page is a bit old (last updated 2012) and some of the links are broken. Does anybody have some more recent recommendations / experiences?

There is no such thing as a 'Canadian' medical card; each Province has their own medical health scheme.

A quick Google search will bring up links.

Here's one company (whos link still works, by the way) that may be of use.

Emigration Travel Insurance | Emigration Policy - DUInsure

Depends which province you are going to. Unless things have changed you get it immediately in NS whereas you have to wait three months in Ontario.

We're in alberta on temp work permits and got given ours straight away. - though we also had my husband's Blue Cross employment insurance kick in straight away too- so we didn't bother with insurance to be honest.
