Default INSURANCE - Traveling back to UK

Hello.

Just need some help. I am a PR in Canada and am traveling home to the UK for Christmas. I would like to get some insurance to cover the basics of traveling (baggage, is anything goes wrong etc). I also want to look into getting my spouse (Canadian citizen) some coverage too.

I did some google searching and can't find what I'm looking for.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Leanne

i don't mean to be funny but what you are looking for is basic travel insurance. Google returns thousands of results. what is it that you want that these companies don't offer?

If you paid for your flights on a credit card, then your credit card my offer some element of travel insurance as well. That's worth checking.

+1 for this, my credit card with TD covered various parts of travel aslong as it was paid in full on said credit card

You know you need medical insurance included? We used to get an annual vacation insurance from CAA so we were covered for short trips across the border too

I'm sure Bats is right on this. You'll need medical insurance like any other tourist non-resident in the EU. Because we live permanently in Canada, the fact we hold British passports doesn't entitle us to free healthcare in the UK.

Really? that's crazy. It's hard to find coverage for medical AND baggage/disruption delays at a good price.

depends on what you consider to be a good price

this can do a quote for you

as far as health goes if you have extended benefits at work they might cover you

If you have a health benefits plan at work, check to see if it provides health coverage outside of Canada. Some still do.

And this. I never had to use the included travel health insurance, but my ex who was on my policy did, & the coverage & customer service was excellent.
