Bizarrely, I lived in Toronto while for half the week my children commuted to school downtown from Mississauga. At least they did at first, once they were teenaged they went to Mississauga less and less due to having part time jobs and sporting connections in Toronto.

Nope not being a snob about Toronto. I had the same distaste towards people from the home counties commuting to London. If you're going to work in a city at least live in the damn thing.
Agree about your Pittsburgh comment... probably why they could get away with using Toronto for Pittsburgh in QAF.

Dont know of to many people like you and the ddbb whatever guy who confuse Toronto for Pittsburg unless you have your eyes closed. If your visually going to compare any major north american style city here they all have a lot of concrete and skyscrapers. For starters there are a million different visual landmarks to distinguish the 2 (try opening your eyes and walk smack dab into the CN TOWER for starters). Secondly Toronto being the most multi cultural city in N.A. you will find the people completely different.
Anyways Im sure this wont get me too far as you bunch can continue to carry your "Toronto owes me something" attitude back to your home country and enjoy..

Back to the original post the ddbb guys post about all the areas you asked about couldnt be ANYYYYYYMORE NEGATIVE. It is really not that bleak, and if you have the same opinion as him than move on because im sure you know we have enough people already here that the whiners can move on.
Vaughan - "The city above Toronto" - it is flat it does have a huge mall and also has a huge theme park. There are a lot of cookie cutter style houses like there is everywhere in the GTA, but it is what it is and if you want something different I would suggest staying in Europe or moving directly to the city center. Viva runs all through York Region (Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Vaughan, Aurora, etc.) and is pretty effective. Satellite updates on when the bus will be there and you can get the bus to a subway connection pretty easily and quick.
Oakville - Stereotypically a white affluent neighbourhood where a lot of people who work in downtown Toronto have homes. On the water which is a big plus like Burlington is. Im almost certain the Go train runs out here and you can take it directly into Union Station (Toronto center). The city along with Burlington sprawls along the highway. As a plus Burlington has a nice big botanical gardens.
I dont remember all of the other areas you listed, but that is a few random tidbits on a few different areas. Keep asking specifics.
In general though it can be a bit of a pain in the but to get public transit within many of the cities surrounding Toronto. Transit will give you fairly efficient access to Toronto, but not the most effective system within itself.
Commuting/working in Toronto and living in the suburbs can be a struggle for travelling in the morning/night as well as thousands upon thousands of others do it.

Do we HAVE to have a pop at other peoples opinions? Just post what you have to say about a place, correct any FACTUAL errors, and leave other peoples OPINIONS out of it before the thread degenerates again please.

Is this no longer the case?

If you are going to quote it, quote the whole thing. If people stick to the spirit of it, then there wont be a need to close the thread.

If your referring to my posts I wasnt attacking anybody? Just responding to a post that was very negative, and I was trying to bring a positive light to it as the outlook of moving to the GTA is not as bleak as others who live here for some reason seem to think it is.

That's not my name! Call me Lisa, call me...
I think Toronto looks like Pittsburgh because I have a postcard of each on the fridge and tease visitors by getting them to guess which is which; it's not easy.
Miami is the city in North America with the most foreign born residents, LA the one with people from the most countries so "most multi cultural" is just hype. That said, the population is quite diversse and that is the best thing about the city.
