Re: Importing a boat

To have room to exercise a 28' boat, close enough to drive I'd say Diefenbaker or Last Mountain. There are lots of lakes up north too but it's up to the OP if he does the cottage holiday thing or wants to tow it everywhere or rent a slip at one of the provincial parks. We don't pay tax on used cars and boats here, as far as I know. They tried to implement it for dealers but it hurt their business to much so it was dropped in 2007. If they'll make you pay because it's coming off the ship in Nova Scotia is a question FL could answer. Not exactly a fishing boat, but welcome anyway!;)

Re: Importing a boat

If the boat was on the goods to follow list and the OP was a settler (became a PR) then no taxes payable. if not on the GTF then taxes applicable. If a former resident then no taxes providing the value isn't more than $10,000.
Read this link for reporting the boat

Why on earth would you want to import a boat here when there are loads of beter and power boats on this side of the pond?

What next....importing wallpaper, cats and dogs, sinks etc....wait, some people already do all that

Nope the new import is smuggling Marmite, Ovaltine, Bovril, Penguin Bars and Scotland's favourite soda, Irn-Bru, those with added vitamins

I'm ok with the boat being roro'd to Halifax and me towing the boat back using my own truck or getting it and trailer put on an truck and transported to my location in SK.

I know what you meant but couldn't figure out the doing it yourself comment as that is one hell of a trip considering that it is roughly 3000km from Nova Scotia to Saskatchewan.
