Hi
I like to go Clay Pigeon Shooting...when the wife allows....
Is it possible to bring my shotgun with me? If so what would i have to do. I have a UK Shotgun Licence and as such have to keep the gun in a locked cabinet.
It's a lovely gun...
Regards
John

You really that attached to it to make the hassle worthwhile? Guns are easy to obtain here...

If it's the latter maybe do yourself a favour and buy one here, once you have your PAL (Posession and Acquisition Licence).

I brought four firearms with me from the UK and had them shipped here. It gives you time to acquire the Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) before the gun shows up. I also had my gun cabinet shipped. When your goods arrive you go to Customs and pay them $25 and hand over the completed form you can get from Canada Firearms. Dead easy. Then you contact the RCMP to register the gun though if the Conservatives get their way the guun registry will be dropped so you wont have to bother.
I doubt you will recoup what your shotgun is worth if you sell it now. Shotguns are ten a penny here, but most of them are junk sell loaders or pump actions. A decent gun like a Beretta silver pigeon is substantially more expensive than in the UK.

Triumphguy, that website looks interesting, looks like there are some good facilities around the Calgary area

All the stuff arrived in good condition and the price was better than some of the other people we contacted. The guns are an added headache but apart from having to trundle into Vancouver to deal with CBSA it was pretty straightforward, and the lady from CBSA couldn't have been more helpful.
