We have just finished building a house in UK and would like to do the same in Canada as a business. Is there a scheme for self employed builders to immigrate, i have read on here about people getting out to Canada through a farming scheme, or do you have to be employed any info much appreciated.

I think its a stretch. Sure you could probably apply through self employed route if you have the funds, but IMO you would really struggle to get jobs here, with no local built examples of your work to impress clients, no word of mouth, and no experience of the different building code, or dealing with working in the winter, it would be really hard to win contracts. Sorry to say it but i wouldnt want to hire someone with no local experience.

Most local independent builders start for other companies, work their way up to foreman, get a reputation , and then start on there own, once they have a reputation to use.

Just my opinion though.
