Personally I would dispute `The Ugliest` in North America.

On a scale a friend of mine used to use, back in our teens, I`ts only a 1 Bagger, not a 3 bagger.

I had Yak Trax last year - yes they did work but if you find yourself walking on ice and pavement then they don't last a whole season. I have some different things this year and they have sort of bolts in the bottom, I find them better (Avon sell them but I got mine for $9 from Zellers). I got a pair for hubby too, he hasn't worn his - he has fallen

I'd agree that it's a bold claim, and some of the exchange area is pretty fab, but much of the city is pretty drab! I think part of that is due to the un relenting flatness of the place really, As you know, there are some great neighbourhoods though with great treelined avenues, and leafy parks which counters this to some degree

I have another pal, who is a 6th generation winnipeger, and his opinion that the place should be flattened and rebuilt. He has returned to winnipeg after 25 years away and can see some huge improvements generally.

It's definitely been an icy winter, and today's freezing rain forecast was not exactly a welcome one. But I have to say, it was an unforgettable drive home from work this evening, road conditions weren't too bad and the trees looked amazing.

This is what my place looked like when I got home earlier this evening (weird, but it really felt like a privilege being able to see it).

Great pics Greenhill. We had freezing rain down here as well, but our snow looks all dirty and yuk as it is all melting away.

We are now being pounded by rain, so I think (or is that HOPE) that all the snow will be gone by the morning....roll on SPRING!
