Default icbc and penalty points and risk premiums

Sorry folks, but I'm gonna have a rant.

Mrs gets a speeding ticket, fair enough, naughty girl.

Wallop $178 ! That's right a little different here than the 40 quid back in UK.

3 points on license, no difference on that one.

Icbc could also apply a driver risk premium of $320 a year for 3 years, the way I'm reading it on icbc website, it's as clear as mud though, like most things unfortunately.

Look at the Motor Vehcile Act section of the speeding ticket. If it is section 146 or 147 you should be OK. Section 148 covers excessive speeding. Excessive speeding is > 40 kph over the limit and comes with a bigger fine than $178.

One excessive speeding ticket can result in a driver risk premium. A "normal" speeding ticket should not.
