Can anyone help....?
I have been looking at moving to Alberta ever since i left, 13 months ago. The reason for moving now is that the work situation now allow me to move.
So what have i done so far?
1. I have sent CV's out to companies and employment agencies in Calgary which in my city of choice. (Approx 15 sent with more to go!!)
2. I have visited an EXPO in London in March which was completely useless as for canada there was relocation companies, a HR Company and one Realtor.
3. I am booked onto another Emmigrate2 show for free in October, don't know who is going to be there?
4. I have made a few contacts from my time in Canada and over the phone during the last few days.
Another avenue which i may choose to pursue is a complete career change. I really like the idea of becoming a Social Worker and i have already contacted Med Hat College to query next Falls program. Does anyone have any experience through this?
Social Worker is one of the 29 In demand occupations listed on the NOC. I guess if i get a Canadian diploma in Social Work it will lead to employment and PR?????
If anyone has any idea's at all then please send me them. Presently, i am a fully trained Warehouse specialist with Management qualifications, Health & Safety (NEBOSH), FORKLIFT, Dangerous Goods IATA, and loads of experience.

It fills up fast though so you may not be able to squeeze into it this year.

Do be aware that although Social Worker is currently on the list of eligible occupations for FSW program, the chances are it wouldn't be by the time you graduate, and you'd also need a year's work experience to qualify. Plus I believe that for a Social Worker in Canada, a masters is required (although do a quick forum search to read other threads on Social Work to check and for more info).
A study permit can be a good idea though if you've got the funds, but just don't count on it leading to PR afterwards without an interim measure i.e. a job offer/Temp Work Permit.
Good luck.

Same!! Have 10yrs for pension and i'm def going back to Alberta! Done Medman 4 and got 3 weeks off to travel. And what a breath of fresh air Canada is. I would love a posting to Trails end camp so i could really get the feel for living there. Anyway good luck and save a load of cash before you go!
