Woo hoo! I finally got this little plasticised beauty! I applied on the 28th April and it came today! I'm not sure quite what I intend to do with it....but I have it

Congratulations! I keep mine in my passport on the page opposite the photo page, handy to keep all that stuff together.

I was told the COPR letter is the more important document. If you lose the PR card you need the COPR letter to get a replacement. That's provided I understood the CBSA guy at the border this weekend correctly. He said as soon as I get my PR card I should take the COPR letter out of my passport and store it somewhere safe.

Find a temporary worker and show them it. They'll be ultra jealous.

Yes, you also need your COPR for your Citizenship application and your Canadian Pensions.

Keep it safe.

Congrats on landing, by the way!

It's lucky I always knew that because several years ago a lackey at some European airport or other, I think Heathrow, laughed at the COPR in my passport (British at the time) helpfully telling me that I should have a PR card.

This twat literally threw it on the floor telling me it was useless.

I begged to differ.

Congarts on the PR Cards. I remember when I first got ours.

I think I only have 3 out of 4 COPR and sure one has been misplaced (mine actually !).

Can they be replaced ?

I'm a little puzzled. I got mine at the 'landing' interview. It was all part of the granting of PR process and not a separate application.

I'm on my renewal card now.

Might have been a little different when you landed.

You don't make a separate application. On being processed, when landing, you give an address and they automatically send the card there. Ours took about a month to come through.

Reading about how important the CORP is I got a little nervous; thankfully a quick check of my documents showed that I still had it.

Thanks guys; I'd never have thought it was that important once I got the card.
