Hi Maple Leaf, yes it's been wet and cold today, time to turn on the heating! What's it like at the Lake? Not to many people tubing now eh!

you are spot on! not too many at all. tho last week i noticed a few still when i was down town shopping. however that is a big change from summer...they would be dotted all over the place..a constant stream of them. i heard that at times it could be a few hundred in a day. and i believe it...as son and i would be at little beach for a swim for an hr or so and there would be a constant stream of tubers arriving. and they were having great fun. i think i will do it next summer when the river is high..as it is quicker then. might need a wet suit tho ;)

and yes..time to turn the heating on here too i think...

It's pretty common. In my city of 225,000 people there are no doctors taking on new patients, not even walk-ins. I have to go to Ontario and pay for it.

So relieved... misread the thread and though you were excited because you found a drill. My in-laws already warned me it's a similar situation in Calgary -we need more GPs emigrating!

Fortunately it isn't that far. I can get there on the bus or go with Souvette when she goes to work in the morning in Ottawa. It's a pain though. Only a few walk-in clinics in Ottawa will see Quebec patients. You have to pay up front and then try to claw the money back from the QC government. I make a point now of getting there for 7am, when they open, otherwise you're looking at hours waiting. Plus, you don't have a GP as such so there's no follow up. I recently finished a one-month course of medication and I've no idea if I'm meant to go back.

why is there such a shortage..do you know..?

i am wondering if it is because of the qual transfer over to Canada dont' match up or something and they have to sit exams etc..?

The qualifications transfer issue doesn't help but I believe the main reason to be that doctors qualify in Canada and then bugger off to the US to make even more money than they do here.
