Perhaps we should just lock every thread as soon as it appears.

Surely its not too much to expect that posters here have the decency to behave like civilised adults; This forum exists in part as a support group, so if you dont have any real help to offer, then feel free to ignore the thread. This is not the Maple Leaf.

And yes, Rule 1 still applies in the Maple Leaf too, although there is a bit more lattitude given in that sub forum.

Silly is one thing, rude and abusive are another...

If its in the main Canada forum and there is room for "confusion", then I suggest caution is the best bet.

Well, I don't think it is silly, That is " Brownstar" who first threw this abusive comment on me. Then they followed him/her. So why don't delete her/his posting as well? iaink ?

At least they didn't ever encounter any unpredicted difficulties when travelling, and don't know how to solve it in a smart way. You never know how I would admire them.. no constructive ideas, just abusive words.

But I solved my problem with a miracle speed, hooray. I'll get the glasses in 1 hour and go through the test.

But logic would dictate that if you are going for a G1 DRIVERS eye test, then the glasses may well come in handy

If it was you deciding to take the test on the hop then why not cancel it and take it when you move here, or alternatively go into Walmart and buy some of those "off the shelf specs for $20" jobbies.

I've 3 and more pairs of glasses myself. I was just too lazy to take them with me.

Are you able to borrow glasses from your friend for the duration of your visit here? If you need eyeglasses in order to see well enough to pass the G1 driving test, you need them to drive. Do not get behind the wheel of a car without corrected vision, for all our sakes.

Trust me, I considered it. But ultimately there is a difference between saying "That was a silly thing to do", and "You are a silly <insert vulgarity here>".

One is OK (lets face it, it was a silly thing to do), one is not, because we dont know the first thing about you, and personal insults are not welcome here.

Good luck with the test, and please continue to wear them when driving, if you need them for the test, then you need them to be safe on the roads. If you are not looking ahead, then you should be!

Canada is such a small place you will never have to look very far ahead when driving

No abusive comments in my post, just a silly answer to the second silly post you've made.

Those of the shelf jobbies are for reading. They aren't prescription glasses at all, just a magnifier. They would only help you see the speedometer not the road.

BTW the drivers license says on it is you need glasses or contacts to be able to drive, so if one does drive and forget to wear them, and if the OPP stop you then one would be in deep do-do.

I was surprised to have to take an eye test when I went to get my license, so I understand the OPs mistake. If he has no intention of driving when he is here then why would he need the specs?
