our eldest son is 23 and finished his University degree recently. He remembers his time in the US (between 12 - 15) and has said if we don't move to Canada he would go without us.

He couldn't find a job in the UK after completing his Sports Coaching Degree, went to Kelowna, BC and is now working as Sports facilitator / manager for the past month and loving it

Granted it is a long way from ON where we may be but it's a lot closer than where we are currently and he is happy.

My youngest plays Ice Hockey for his local, regional and the England national team so he will fit in on that side of life as well as the academic side.

Yes they may use their expensive education as you said to move elsewhere but that will be their decision when old enough and I will support them when that decision is made - All we can do is try what we believe is best for them at the current time.

Peversely its almost certainly more expensive to do Ontario to Kelowna than UK to Kelowna, but by the sounds of it you have good reasons to try Canada.

I wonder how a UK hockey relative superstar will adjust to being "just another" talented kid on skates in Canada, good luck to him though.

Yep - the flights are more expensive internally than they are from the UK. but as said previously - we need to use our activated PR cards. Still some time on them but need to make the move sometime and this is the 'push' that will hopefully work out as a positive one

He knows he wont make a living out of it in the UK or Canada but played several times over there and competed but still knows he'll be a 'normal' player in Canada. He just wants to play and thinks he'll get more than the hours practice a week he gets with his club team here

Oh - he will, my 12 year old gets Mondays off, he is on the ice either for games, practice or at the gym for the rest of the week. Travel can be extensive too, in the past 2 years he has played in Halifax, Philadelphia, Chicago, Florida (twice) and Detroit (4 times), not to mention his regular league games which can be up to 90 minutes away from home. It is a lot of fun and will certainly help your son settle here. Both Mississauga and Peterborough have options to play at high level, Mississauga, has access to more high level teams than Peterborough.
