I am at the point of desperation now......my partner and i have applied for permanent residency in July 2007 from the UK. I would like people who have already gone through it to make me feel more positive and tell me it doesn't take as long as the Immigration website says! That says 4 year, i've heard others say no more than 2.
We're actually looking at going in January 2009 on work permits, or working holiday visas basically so we can get a headstart....but that will mean having to come back to the UK after so long to sort documents and things out, in other words......a waste of our well saved pennies! So basically, going there as permanent residents would make things a whole lot easier!
Help!! Vanessa and Darren. x

Welcome to BE. You might want to look at www.trackitt.com where you can see timelines that people have put it.
London seem to be calling for Aug 06 applicants at the moment. We applied in October 06 and are patiently waiting and waiting and waiting, lol.
Hope that helps.

If you get a job offer and go out on a WP you can usually get your PR fast-tracked or even go for PNP if you are eligible. What is your occupation?

Just over 3yrs for PR - from April '05 to June '08 (skilled worker application).
Applied for a WP after arriving here in Aug '05. That took a day out to the border to get issued.

How did you manage to get a telephone interview and then offered the job? We're constantly applying for jobs, signed up with the usual sites like monster.....i've had 1 response so far.....frustrating! If he could get a job in construction that could speed up our PR application?!!!
