Hello everyone, we are finally moving to Nova cotia in 9 weeks!!
I was wondering how has everyone found living in NS, especially if you live near or in the Truro area.
Whats the work situation like??
I appreciate every comment and Thank You in advance

Hi, we live just off junction 8 on the 102 as we couldnt find work in Truro (accountant and police) but rather in Bedford and we needed to be closer. Theres so much to like here and so much that is different. We have specifically learnt:
Heating bills are enormous on electric and oil, if you have a wood stove/insert its so much more affordable.
You have to pay tax on a second hand car, they determine the amount of this from the red book unless you paid more than the value in the red book, in which case you pay tax on that.
You dont have to pay full price on many groceries, check the flyers each Thursday.
Costco is amazing for meat and toilet roll amongst other things
For work - contacts here are everything and so is Canadian experience.
Mobiles - you have to pay extra to see who is calling you and to have voicemail

Its beautiful here and my children are free

Good luck in your move

oh and also (I was amazed by this) people drive too fast in the snow and rain, there are loads of accidents in the snow.
If you are a fan of Clarkes or startrite shoes for your child, buy a new set before you move, the only similiar place I have found here is in Micmac Mall, otherwise no-one measures childrens feet.

Check out Melmerby Beach in New Glasgow for warm, shallow water in the summer, it also has lovely washroom facilities
