How do you split quotes?
#1
I have tried and cannot master it!
Quite a few of you on this forum, when replying, dissect the questions and reply to each bit in individual "quotes", quotations. How do you do this?

Looks like it worked just dandy.
It's basically just using what we computer boffins call "markup". It's what "M" stands for in XML and HTML.
Each bit of text you want to quote you must preceed with {QUOTE=name_of_person} and end the section with {/QUOTE}
Note: use square brackets: [ and ] instead of braces { and }, I used these so to not end up with my information showing as a bit of quoted text.
Give it ago!

After all that I have descovered the automated way to do it.
Highlight the text with you mouse (or hold shift and use the arrows keys) then click the "Wrap {QUOTE} tags around selected text" button which is the last button on the right just above the box where you type your message (looks like a yellow speech bubble).

Thanks for that. It has been bugging me for a while how to do that. Not a computer boffin as you have guessed.

On the Reply page, it is the last icon on the top of the page, second row -- looks like a printed page/text bubble.
Good luck!!

You're welcome, to be honest it's something that has crossed my mind a few times but I've never bother investigating. Being a boffin I guessed straight away it was some sort of "markup" thing.
If you are going to use it then I'd recommend you preview your post before sending because you will probably end up with a right old mess if your "tags" get out of sync or you mis-type a "tag" name (see below!)
