Maybe it's different if you're just visiting ... but living with it is ****ing utterly intolerable.

Give me -30C and snow anyday ....

Nope, Macmike is right....I've lived in both conditions, and all you have to do is dress for the weather......and away you go......

I used to hike, climb, cave, and paraglide all year round in the UK

The diferance here is you have more seasonal sports...

Caving in the rain???? Sounds reckless at best.

Its certainly true you can dress for whatever weather, but I have to agree with those who would rather be out in the cold snow than the wet rain. I guess thats why the three who have said that so far are long term residents here. If we couldnt stand it we would have long since packed our bags.

So have I and with the greatest respect to you both, you're talking utter crap :D :D :D

I think this is the true great division in Canadian society ... what's worse, shovelling snow or being pissed on by the heavens??

I believe it's actually dry some of the time Vancouver & Victoria?? It rains almost all year in the west of Scotland ... pretty much ten months a year ... when it isn't raining in the winter, it's horrible wet sticky snow.

Most west coast Scots have zero tolerance of rain ... I'm sure Eddie will agree when he sees this :D

I find it interesting that so many Brits seem to prefer the cold as long as it is sunny, to warmer weather with rain. My guess is most Canadians would have the opposite opinion.

Probably ... they'd rather be indoors drinking hot chocolate by a warm fire ... or more typically sunning themselves down in Mexico :p

It's a Brit thing ... if Mars or Titan had blue skies, we'd be happy there too :D

Dressing for any weather does not always cut it!! I have horses and looking after them in the piddling rain every day is absolutely sole-destroying I can tell you! Every morning you come into the house covered in wet hay, mud all over your boots and coats and stinking hair!! Here in Canada it is an absolute pleasure looking after them. No wet hay to stick to your wet coat. No mud!!! And nice, fresh-smelling lovely long locks!

Give me -30 days anyday to +20 wet days in the UK!

I vaguely remember my Canuck telling me that any temp under 0 whether you measure it F or C ;-) is just to ^&*()_ cold.

Metric? hmmmm and what might that be?
