Well I'm blowed, I thought they were spelt Dorono and Odderwah!

I think barred under several usernames now.

I hope he is ok. Seemed to be stuck in moment.

We moved to Ottawa in 2008 with an 18 month and 4 year old. Kids have been kept busy!!
Has a small town feel to it (like Bath or York) and you can be in the countryside within about 30 mins of anywhere in Ottawa. Downtown is nice with decent restaurants and bars.

- lots of Museums
- lots of places within a short trip (Kingston, 1000 islands, Montreal, Gatineau Park, Algonquin Park, Sand Banks, Wasaga Bay)
- lots of ice rinks and sports centers (so lots of sports clubs too)
- an easy drive to the USA (less than an hour for us just South of Ottawa)
- if you're into camping, lots of camp sites
- lots of areas to live in out of the core (Barrhaven, Stitsville, Orleans, Kanata, Manotick, Greely, Metcalfe, Russel to name a few)

I like Ottawa as a getaway. I’d choose Ottawa over Pickering/Ajax any day and I’d pick Toronto over Pickering/Ajax any other day. I live in Hamilton, go figure.

Wow, some resurrected names here! Hello all.

To the OP, have you not visited Ottawa? It’s only 4 hrs up the road. That’s almost a day trip in Canada😉

I did do it as a day trip. I was working in Ottawa, there was some event at the Yard, I drove down had a beer and mingled and drove back to Ottawa again.

Easily doable. We often used to do Gatineau-Longueuil for lunch. That's 200km each way.

When we were in the process of moving, we made a number of return day trips between Gatineau and where we are now. That's over 800km. We're in no hurry to do that again.

Bloody hell. It must be nearly halloween. The BE zombies are resurrecting themselves in anticipation...

Good to see some old well-worn names - the forum's been looking a bit tired recently.
