Re: House Price Trends Canada
Interesting but in a sense not surprising. St Johns looks to be doing pretty good and Halifax okay (though prices rises obviously slowing from recent years). As a casual observer of things such as property markets I cant help but liken Atlantic Canada to Northern England. Basically there seems to be a lagg between Western and Central Canada (much like the South of England) and the Atlantic Provinces (like the North). In England the South would always be first to experience a boom whereas the North wouldnt react until a year or two later (and when it did the effect would not be as pronounced). But when the South had peaked and prices started declining the North would continue to rise for a year or two afterwards. Then eventually it would follow suit (but again the fall would be much milder).
