Default Hotel in Vancouver

Yes another Hotel thread

We are staying in Vancouver on the 3rd and 4th of July.
We are looking for a Hotel near GM place as we seeing Green day on the 4th of july and wondered if there is anywhere near to there that is reasonable priced with parking.

I seen GM place is near the sky rail thing ? Does that stay open late at night ? If so a hotel somewhere on the skyrail route would be good.. Did try looking for somewhere ourselves and was either far to expensive or had very very bad reviews
We not looking for the Ritz nor the Bates motel , just somewhere inbetween. And not too far from GM place but with parking as we driving into the big city.

So any reccomendations would be welcomed .

Thank you
Kirsty.

They said not the ritz. Sutton place is pricey-not sure you would be 'suffering' there. A better choice would be the Sandman on West Georgia within spitting distance of GM place.

I worry that you think Sutton Place is like The Ritz. It has a half decent menu, and I love the smellies in the bathroom. I don't think paying less than a hundred quid (<$200)for a clean room in a reasonably nice hotel is pricey. Sandman is a little smelly and shabby; friends stayed there a few months back, after one night they moved to the Hyatt.

Of course. You will be sharing with junkies and hookers. There is no middle ground between the Sandman and dross. You pick.

Have you looked at the YWCA? A stone's throw from GM place and very reasonably priced. http://www.ywcahotel.com/

Junkies and hookers - i don't think so. The sandman is good enough for commoners like me and my family. I've also stayed at sandman and while its not the savoy, its not bad for a night or two.

we stayed at the St Regis in downtown Vancouver. that is within a walk of GM and so no worries about the skytrain etc....

it was pretty cheap and offered huge pastries in the morning; and of course a starbucks in the lobby / next door!

one slight concern tho, was the clunking heating system. part of the old hotel's 'charm' i guess? but not likely to be in use during the summer (?)
