Default Hotel Recommendations - Banff/Lake Louise area

Good evening

Wanted to pick your collective brains for some hotel recommendations. Hubby and I are planning a (child free !) weekend for our anniversary. Not until September, but thought I would plan ahead.

We're looking for somewhere in the Lake Louise/Moraine Lake/Banff area - any ideas good or bad?

Thanks so much guys.

Julie

Why not join the Fairmont Hotels Presidents Club online and then during the first week of each month they send you deals on their hotels and often the Banff and Lake Louise Fairmont are in there - this month we got a room at the Banff Springs for $149 a night plus tax which isn't bad for this time of year at that hotel.

We have also stayed at the Fox hotel in Banff which is one of the newest there - they have really nice loft suites but they are a bit pricey.

Check out Tripadvisor.com for reviews of hotels.

Have a nice anniversary!

We loooooooove this place: http://www.morainelake.com/. The cabins are great and you get free canoeing. Better value than the more famous hotel down the road

Another vote for the Fairmont Banff Springs!

I personally wouldnt stay in Lake Louise as there isnt really that much to do! You have more options in Banff.

I like the Post Hotel in Lake Louise. It is a short distance to the slopes by shuttle bus. It has a remote and relax feel to it with lovely warm log fires. The views are breathtaking. Admittedly it isn't Château Lake Louise but it does have lots of charm and is part of Relais & Châteaux.

The Post Hotel is not the Chateau, it is much better! The food is second to none, the wine cellar is I think the third largest in Canada, the service is exceptional and personal. The only thing the Chateau has over the Post is the view, but that all depends if you are willing to shell out for the preferred side. I have been going to the Post for 10 years and have never had anything but a wonderful time there.

We always stay in the Banff Gate Mountain Resort in Canmore....15 mins from Banff - has a gym, hot tub and swimming pool. The accommodation is 2 storey sleeps two doubles up stairs....we've always found it very comfortable. Kitchen, TV etc.

this is probably more of a place for a weekend with the kids, we've been about 4 times now ; mysticsprings in Canmore, townhouse type affair with 2 bedrooms upstairs & lounge & kitchen downstairs, decent outdoor pool & hot tub too

We have stayed at the Chateaux at Lake Louise both in the winter and the summer and enjoyed it both times. There is a free bus to the ski area all year round and there are some good walks around the lake.

I would recommend staying either there or Morraine Lake as that looks really good to.

If you go into Lake Louise village go and have something to eat at 'The old railway station' excellant food and good prices.

See photos one is from our bedroom window. If you want any other info just ask!!

Enjoy your trip.
