Hot Cross Buns

Here's an article in the Guardian comparing various types. In the old country they go for about 1.45 pounds for a pack of 4. So about 55c each.

In my local bakery here in Toronto they are $2 each or special deal 6 for $10!

WTF!

That must be 1000% mark up on what it costs to make them.

Just to add to Siouxies post. You may be more familar with extra foods or IGA (I think they own more than that) but they are all the same company and sell more or less the same things at different prices.

Hmmm, closest is 6km away and I have no car. Maybe I'll just buy one locally.

They are owned by Loblaws - for a full list of the stores under this banner you can go here: http://www.loblaw.ca/English/Utiliti...s/default.aspx

They all sell pretty much the same stuff :)

W get ours from our local Cobbs. They're not bad if you toast and then add some butter on them.

They only tested the posh 'luxury' ones. A 6 pack for 50p in Asda.

Hadn't really given these any thought this year, but now once the Mrs. gets home I think we'll be popping out to get some. (As Oink said, toasted, nice bit of butter and a cup of tea).

Just bought some from stupidstore, I went for the extra raisin ones hoping they haven't got bright green and red cherry type bits in them:rofl:

I hate that shop:thumbdown:
