Homesick or not???

Hi Heckler,
If you use advanced search for my posts on this forum, posts from a couple months back, and find the messages specifically about Kelowna, it'll give you some idea, send me PM's for more specifics if it helps you.
I guess I'd start off by saying you'd find real estate more expensive, say up to $400k for a single family home, living costs are higher than rest of BC, busy busy in summer due to tourist masses, amazing weather, 4 season playground, Vancouver is accessible for weekends etc, everything you need at your doorstep [unless you're overly fussy], work can be hit or miss but to be honest anyone who can't get a "basic job" in K-Town would have to work damned hard at it
plenty places hiring from shops, stores, call centre, tourism, etc. Plenty quiet places to just take off at weekends, get away from the noise around town in July/August. Ski-ing 40 mins away (x2), lakes, parkland, world class mountain biking, beaches, babes, crazy people, all sorts happening here. Bars, decent food, etc. Decent sized shopping mall. I hear that Rock Creek types come here for the weekend to make it happen, have some fun, and see the glitterati in their multi million dollar homes and yachts and Ferraris etc, bling bling innit.
As they say round here, get here before it becomes totally unaffordable, it's barely so now
Rich.

I guess to be honest boredom is a big part of why I feel the way I do.....this is a really great area to come and relax or even to retire in, but I am just not at that point in my life yet.
I am planing to give this winter a good go and see how it goes and then re-assess the situation in the spring. I am certainly not ready to go back to rat race of the UK just yet.
As for me taking up hockey, skiing etc....well you never know stranger things have happened.
Any other non sporting tips to make winter more interesting?

I see that OceanDMX (thank you!) provided the link to you as well. You'll find it below my signature here.
My hubby lived just outside of Edinburgh and has been PR since July 2004. I know that he found Kelowna to be a slower pace... so I'm sure that you are feeling that where you are! You mentioned the Kettle River, so I'm assuming you are maybe in the Beaverdell or Rock Creek areas? We might head up to the provincial campground nearby this summer for a weekend.... will have to use our air mattress for a float down the river.

We're not big winter sports enthusiasts, but enjoy a winter walk... or maybe even hurtling down a hill on a toboggan! lol Hubs (SivoxII) got more involved in HTML coding and building our site, so that kept him busy.
We both stop by here often, but you're welcome to join us as well. Maybe your wife & I can share tips on things British!

Cheers
Oggy
