Most lager type US beer is the same watery crap they have here and I think they're all 5%. Why do Canadians think their beer is better than the US? Have you tried the Pilsner stuff, its diabolical.

We get the export versions of US beer - they serve shandy in most bars in the US

I still remember a bartender in the US ripping in to me for daring to ask why the domestic beer didn't have the alcoholic content on the labels - the stuff he just served tasted even more watery than anything I've been subjected to at the Saddledome

No, it's Canadian beer - Blue, Canadian, whatever you want.... That's what makes it all the more perverse!

About 15 years ago,I started making my own wine. Some of my results were as follows.
Coffee, grim but only took a couple of weeks to make.
Parsnip,grim but potent.(Tasted a bit like sherry)
Celery,grim.
banana,didn't clear so discarded.
Apple, not too bad easily the best.

Anyway kept it going for over a year til oneday the corks just blew off practically my entire suply, soaking everything in the garage.Heartbroken,I discarded my brewing kit.Never to continue.

There's a reason when you go into a wine shop they don't sell coffee or banana wine.

most of the wines in me book took months.
Coffee took 2 weeks,so I knocked out a fair few bottles of that to begin with.

I like the cider brewing idea, but for wine you can 4 half decent bottles of red wine in a box for 18 dollars in Washington state.
