I spoke to a few ppl about this and some say it depends on employer and industry -- but the norm and acceptable standard seems to be as per above

I guess I will need to look into Canadian weather then.
Not that I'm expecting a tropical country, but I belived in the existence of 4 distinct seasons, one of which...is summer

Of course this doens't tell how long the summer is, but I also have to say I don't need +25°C to use the bike.
Anything between +5°C and + 40°C is fine
When I lived in Edmonton for 2 winters, fall was skipped both times, went from summer to winter, fall kind of just wasn't there, nor was there really a spring, went from winter to summer it seemed.

Fairly accurate. The 401 and 403 around the GTA is pretty bad in the evenings when they close lanes for whatever work they're doing.
Been in Canada on and off for the past 6 years. Don't think I've ever driven on the 427 between the Gardiner and 401/403 in Toronto without it being in heavy construction. Frankly I don't know how anyone living in Toronto sticks it.

The key is not to go out of Toronto. So long as you're within the 427/401/DVP/lake box, life can be quite pleasant. Once you decide to go out to the 'burbs and back in again you're in for hours of queueing. Why one would choose to visit such places as Mississauga or Etobicoke is something of a mystery. It's the truth that for 20 odd reasonably nice years I lived in Toronto without going north of Bloor and, it's the truth that now that I have, I wonder why anyone does.

you surely know how to make me dislike Toronto
I guess however that's the "curse" of big cities. Plently of opportunities in them, but it's very hard to get out
from what I understood up to this point, I would say the place that best suits me would me Edmonton. I knew a fella who used to work at Alberta University. I will try to contact him to ask how he's doing.
-Jsmth321: thanks for the heads up about the weather. However I have to say 2 seasons is not that bad, provided none is longer than 9 months
