Hi
I have scoured the Wiki on schooling and cannot see anything on how to enrol
I have been advised that my son will get assessed at a centre in Toronto called Greenwood then he will have to wait on his results from his assessment and then we can approach a school, and that could take up to 2 months, I find this totally bizarre and as it is Summer holidays over there I cant quite get a hold of anyone to talk too.
We are going over in Oct and he will be staying there while we have to come back and settle up. Ideally I would like to be able to see him into a school for a couple of weeks before we come back.
Could somebody out there tell me of there experiences baring in mind my son is 15yrs old. If anyone went over with a teenager how did it go for them.
All answers much appreciated

Not sure if things have changed that much since we landed in 96 with three children. We just needed to go to our nearest home school with our landed documents and address confirmation etc and register and they were in. I just took all their school reports with me to show capabilities.
Are you enrolling your son into a special ed programme? who has given you this information. Toronto school board were most helpful and they should be there all the time for you. You could also e-mail them etc. Which area of Toronto will you be settling into regards to school location etc.? Shoot any questions to me I will try to help you no problem.

Hi
Our experience was the same as JLT's
We came to Oakville last august on TWP, we rang the school which we were in the catchment area for to make an appointment with a counsellor. We didn't bother going via the school board
We took school reports, husbands work permit, birth certificate, passport and a utility bill (something which proved our house was in the catchment area) and we sorted out which subjects at what level they would study at.
My children were 12, 14 & 15 it was all very straight forward.
Unfortunately schools are closed now until end of August when the staff return, we are in Halton district so I don't know if they operate differently to
Toronto.
Hope you get sorted out soon making the move easier for your son.

Hi
Thanks for you reply much appreciated.
I think I will go straight to the schools then. There are only 2 as the other one is not taking any more children in. We dont really have time for the assessment malarky.
Tilley how did your teenagers cope with a new school and did they get accepted and are they enjoying it now? Have you any tips of any stumbling blocks that may arise?
Thanks
