Hi
Just wanted to say Hi. I am new to the forum although have read the threads for quite some time now.
I moved to Canada with my family last October 07 and am on the final path to PR. We are awaiting our passports and visas back from immigration. We applied in July 06 but after a positive LMO and WP last September we moved here in Oct and fast tracked our application. We are now at the final hurdle and it has taken approx 7 months.
If i can be of any help to others please fire away with questions.

Hi
Canada is great, so glad we took the plunge and moved here. Newfoundland weather takes a bit of getting used to though, but all things considered, the best decision we ever made.
Good to see people are as friendly on the forum as they are in Canada.

Blimey, another BE poster on the Rock? Jeez this place is getting as popular as Nova Scotia!
(Ok, maybe since there is only 4 of us, not so much.) Welcome! How are you enjoying todays weather? Feels colder than the dead of winter doesn't it? Never mind, summer is only 4 weeks away. If we're lucky

Hi Atlantic Xpat and Biiba
Thanks for the welcome.
Yes the weather is certainly a little chilly today but we are adjusting. sssoooooooooooooooo looking forward to the 1 month of summer everyone keeps saying we get around July
. But the beautiful icebergs we are getting at the moment are making up for it.

Hi JPoole, nice to hear that people do make it, we have been trying to move to Ontario for the past 18 months its not that easy. We put in for PR Nov 07 still not heard nothing. My husband is an electrician and have oly just found out that he can sit the Certificate of Qualification exam to make hin qualified in Ontario, so we are going out in July to do the exam and hopefully line some interviews up. Lets hope he passes. Did you find it hard to get a job?lol
Good luck with the exam.
I had a job offer befor we came over. I had to get a LMO and WP. We originally put in PR app in JUl 06 and heard nothing apart from a letter aknowledging reciept. I then started applying for jobs and got an offer in April 07. I received LMO in the Jul, had medicals in Aug and WP by beg Sept. We landed in Oct 07.
Once you have a job offer it is much quicker.

Welcome Jo!
Glad to hear you are enjoying Newfoundland life as much as we are - my oh and I arrived back in November (it snowed on our first day here, and there are still patches of snow in our garden - can't believe it has lasted that long!).
Our PR application is still being processed by London, but hopefully we should hear soon - our TWP's last until December so not too worried yet.
Will definitely have to get together for a brunch - it's been a couple of weeks now since the last one - we've been to a variety of places Bud's Family Restaurant (shut down a week later, nothing to do with us!), The Casbah, Beach Cove?!? in Portugal Cove, and Tangled up in Blue. Always a good laugh, and we even had dessert at the last one!
