Hi
We're Jamie and Ruth from Leicester. We're about to take a leap into the great unknown to begin applying for PR through the skilled worker programme. We've no real idea where we want to head to; too many conflicting ideas. We think it'll be BC (not Vancouver though, although Victoria would be brilliant!) or Greater Toronto. To be honest we just don't know. We're thinking of applying through Avatar Immigration; any heads up would be great.
We're both primary school teachers and we hope
that we'll be able to get something similar out there.
We're really looking forward to the challenge and we've enjoyed looking through what other people have said. It'd be great to hear from some teachers already out in Canada, but any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Well take care all

Hi Jaime and Ruth,
I'm an elementary school teacher in BC. If you have any questions about getting certified, finding a job, or working conditions for teachers here, just ask.
Best of luck!

The skilled worker route is currently taking around 5 years + to process at the moment and that time is predicted to rise, so if you want to get over there quicker than that then do have a look at the Wiki (top left of page) and check out other ways to get there in a shorter period of time. Of course the advantage of having a 5 year wait is that you'd have plenty of time to do several recces to get a better idea of where you want to live!
Best of luck with it all.

Hi both,
We are David and Jane Parker, not actually from Leicester, but a little village in Leic's..Griffydam. We are 2 + years into our wait (39 months) so hopefully not much longer for us now. Dave is a dentist in Leicester, I have a stud of show horses and breed and show dogs.
We used Four Corners immigration for our application, no complaints so far, although I gather a lot of folk do the applications themselves.
Good luck, I hope it all goes well for you.

Hello and welcome! No idea about Avatar Immigration I'm afraid but if you do a search on the forum you may well find mention of them and get some views. Most people on here do their own application though, unless you have particularly complicated circumstances it may well be worth researching whether or not you actually need to get somebody else to do it for you. It is usually pretty straightforward and now that you've found this forum, you'll get lots of answers here to any questions! Up to you of course but don't automatically assume you need to pay somebody to do it for you.

hello and welcome!
i'm new as well, though have been lurking for a while.
I am also a primary teacher from the E.Midlands, and my husband and I are hoping to apply for PR through SW soon... let the 5 year wait begin!

Hello and welcome 254,
The same for you too - if you decide on BC and have any teacher-related questions, just ask.
Best of luck!

Hi - welcome to BE - lots of teachers on here currently (what is that saying about the UK?
- what a loss). Follow the Wiki and links to education - and the sometimes-jump-through-hoops to become a teacher in Canada. Best wishes on your journey
