There is a light railway service that runs within the city limit http://www.edmontonslrt.com/lrt_in_ed.htm
As for markets, apparently there is a great Italian market so I'm told in Edmonton (have never been there) I am told it has great meat etc. There is also the Sunterra Markets, sorry not sure of the addresses. Also the very popular Old Strathcona Farmers market which runs every Saturday which is on Whyte Avenue, here is the link to that.

Here is another good site if you are interested in food and locally grown products etc. http://www.growingalberta.com/ has a list of farmers markets etc.
Hope this helps a little, good luck with the job interview

Thanks Pauline - both for the info and the luck! Im still trying to get to grips with what is and is not in the city limits. We would probably be looking for something in the city at first, as we would be renting. Glad to see there is something of a market, because I know that will be one of his first questions - "where can I get decent meat and cheese?"

Re: Hi I'm New!
Hi there, Jane here, I have copied your last note below to refresh your memory. We are in Red Deer as I type and wanted to ask you a couple of questions and hope that is OK! I will understand completely if you don't have chance to reply until we are already gone (mon) but that doesn't matter as it is still useful. We are very taken with Red Deer and Sylvan Lake after comparing Penticton/Vancouver/Kelowna/Black Diamond/Turner Valley/Calgary/Okotoks/Lethbridge well I could go on but I am boring myself. I wanted to ask what you knew about the areas and if you were going to buy new in which area you would prefer, I think there is Inglewood and West? Also, do you have any contacts or know any employment agencies we could try here in Red Deer for hubby (electrician)? Thanks, I don't know whereabouts you are but we are pretty amazed by the whole place. Hope all is OK with you and yours, happy Canada Day, Jane.

Regarding me being the one missing Next, nope, not me. I was an ASDA buff for clothes back home! Still, when you get here, you do learn to live without places like Next and Adams etc. Stores like Sears, Zellers, and even Walmart have some great kiddie clothes. Besides you can always rely on the rellies to bring over Next outfits on their visits to you. If you're going to come to Red Deer, just give us a shout and we can meet you and show you the best bits - even if it's just for the day (a week will fly by when you've got that much planned into it)....I'm here anyway
