Default Hi from Devon

Hello all,

Have just registered to this great site and wanted to say hello. Our names are Dave and April, we have just sent off our update letters and are waiting for our medical letters to come through (fingers crossed) We had our AOR in Feb 06. We are going through the skilled workers route as dave is a mechanical engineer. We have 4 children so hopefully this won't put them off!! We would like to go to Calgary, Alberta. A part of us is really excited another part terrified and another part dreading the fact we might not get there! I hope you'll be hearing a lot from us over the coming months if things go to plan! As we certainly need lots of advice...

One question I would like to ask is when it comes to medicals I know they want blood tests and X-rays but I was wondering as our children are under 10 will they need this aswell?

Thank you in advance

Dave and April

Hi Dave & April +4!

Welcome to BE. Sounds like you are well on your way.

Just did a quick search and found the following which seems to address your question re medicals...

Looks like that's a "yes" to the medicals for the children.

Hope the rest of the process goes smoothly for you and that you join us out here in Alberta before too long (we're in Okotoks, just south of Calgary).

Kind regards,

Eamonn & Janet.

Hi

If your children are under 10, they will have a medical but not blood tests and x-rays. The medical for them just involved weight, eye test, listening to their chests with a stethoscope and a questionnaire we filled in.

Thanks Lisa , this is what we thought . I did think blood tests for our youngest who is only 20 months seemed a bit extreme. I can let my older children know now as they were worried about it too.

Well they can rest at ease. Our kids were 3, 5 & 7 when they had their medicals. There was no problem for them at all. The Doc asked them some questions, did basic eyesight tests, listened to their breathing and so on. It was really a non-event for them. I seem to remember that each of the kids had to provide a urine sample...and that was the toughest thing that was asked of them.

Hope you get your letters soon, and welcome to the Forum
Rob
