Welcome to BE.
This is the right place to come for Canada info.
Start with a thorough read of the Wikki sections will give you info on Canada, and more specifically Toronto and loads more besides.
Also take some time to read past threads/posts as there is some very useful info there too. When you have read all the above, read it again. Time well spent.

When you are wanting to ask questions, be a little more specific, as there really is so much info, it's hard for people to know what you do know, and what you don't.
Best of luck in making your Canadian dream a reality.

hi im a medical receptionist and my hubby is a trucker,we have submitted our application to Canada, were hoping to move to Barrie, near Toronto,we have a 10 year old son, weve done plenty of reading about the country and we have been over few times,my hubby family live there,im wondering how would hubby best look for work,he dosnt want long haul,im happy to work in medical area of some sort,we have been told its difficult to get driving jobs that are not longhaul, has this been a problem for anyone, and can anyone compare wages in canada to the UK for trucking jobs?? Also my son is worried about starting a new school and not knowing anyone, which is a problem for kids anywhere, how do the schools compare to english ones and is the currriculum more or less the same?? Ive been told its more laid back at Canadian schools and there seems to be more help and time for the children, does anyone agree with this?? We are at the stage of should we or shouldnt we,so many questions and pros and cons to both!! But our application is in and pma all the way!! Thankyou for your help.

Hi there!
Yep we've all been there - some still are at the stage when lots of questions just create - well more questions!!
There is a trucking section of the forum you will find your answers there, and you are right most long haul really does mean looonngg haul. Your o/h could be away weeks at a time if he does not choose the right job nad you have to remember that you would be on your own in a new country.
Sounds like common sense but small decisions can have big impacts.
Anyhow good luck xxx
