Default Hi

Just thought I would say hi and introduce us to you all.

We have been looking through the internet and over this forum for the past few months now trying to figure out the best way for us (me, hubby and 7 year old daughter) to fulfil a dream of emigrating to Canada. We have our hearts set on Nova Scotia but have set what we think is a realistic target of four years to achieve this.

Neither myself or my husband have any specific training other than on the job so we decided that the Skilled worker route will be a big no-no. We have since found out that my husbands company have locations across Canada so we hope to be able to get him an intercompany transfer. With the house market so unstable here at the moment we thought that to wait a couple of years and properly research and visit all the areas we are interested in would be the most sensible thing to do.

We are also looking at the possibility of going down the Community Identified route, buying somewhere in Nova Scotia first and estsblishing a relationship within the community before coming over. We like the idea of this option as we thought it would make the transition so much easier if we have friends and contacts first.

Looking forward to be able to gauge an insight into Canada and the immigration process through you all and to hopefully in the future be able to pass our own on to other newcomers.

Thanks

Keldanem

Hi and welcome, join the long list of people coming to Nova Scotia. What kind of work do you both do? Have you ever been to Canada? You will find lots of useful info on here and check out the Wiki as well.
Sunny in Nova Scotia today!

Tell me about it I only found it about three months ago when we first started looking into the whole emigrating thing. I have since been trawling through the WIKI and eveyones post on almost a daily basis and sometimes have to remind myself that I am actually in work. I am sure I will only be worse now that I have actually registered.

Hi Corky,

Thanks for the welcome. I am a PA and have been for the last 12 years but my typing skills etc are all self learnt and I don't think this is the type of thing based on the jobs in demand section of the WIKI that will get us over. My husband is a service engineer but it is specialised and he only received in house training so doesn't have any certificates. The company he works for provided notecounters etc to banks, retail outlets etc. If we can get the intracompany transfer it will be great but we will have to wait and see.

As far as visiting Canada, not yet. We have so many friends and family that have visited and told us such wonderful things and shown us such fantastic pictures. We are planning to come over for a recce next year to make sure that it is definitely what we want, hence the reason we have given ourselves a four year target.

For a change it is actually sunny here in London today aswell - don't hold out much hope of it lasting though!!!!!

Good luck to you too.

It is exciting even at this stage. I can't wait to get over there next year (so far away) to see it with my own eyes.

At my husbands workplace they monitor the internet useage, be careful if you are working for a big company with IT department.

Hi Keldanem

Welcome to BE - it sounds as if you have a great plan! We have a 5 year plan so you're probably feeling the same as me

Isn't this site fantastic? I have recently been chatting to Novagirl about the Community Identified Stream. It sounds like a good option for you.

Good luck with your journey

Hi Cassie

They monitor the internet useage where I work to. They're just no fun at all are they! Don't they realise this is far more interesting than what we're actually supposed to be doing

Thanks for the karma Cassie!

The best of it is I am actually supposed to be 'working from home' today! Did one piece of work and thought I'd have a quick look at BE. 2 hours later I'm still here

Only just noticed my mobile's run out of battery and switched itself off. I'm in deep trouble if work have been trying to ring me

I'll just have to tell them I've been doing 'important research' and got completely engrossed
