Hi i am a uk hgv driver with 18 years of experience and would like to work in canada. Is there any chance i would be able to get short haul work or do you think that i would have to go down the long haul route. Any feedback would be great

not sure, but i dont think many trucking companies would let you on short haul if youre on a lmo, most of them will want you on long haul. like i said im not 100% sure on that

There's a zillion page thread about Loblaws on the Trucking forum , Why don't you read that ? Then perhaps PM someone who as just started there .

Hi
Loblaws is the only one, that I know of, and it would appear the rules were bent for them. If you read the PNP of the various provinces, they all say "Long Haul Truck Drives" in their semi skilled program. So rather than shouting you may want to at least read the PNP requirements for semi skilled occupations.

Hi, we just landed in N.B, My husband was an HGV driver in the uk for many years before we came over, However when he went to "flip" his license, they took all his hgv qualifications off him.He was told it is now canadian policy to remove professional licenses, and he will have to re-sit a local Hgv test .
