hi i have my class 1 HGV i am looking to move to canada i am going to go out on a work visa of a few mouths first to see if i like it. if i get a driving job will i have to retake my test if so what sort of money is it

Yes.... and we've been told it's about $600. The Siemens transport website is very helpful and gives loads of information.

I don't know how to post the link across (d'oh) but if you find my thread "Alberta Driver" someone very kindly gave a link for Canadian firms that are hiring...... v v v helpful people on this forum.

Depending on your views regarding "working-practices?" with in road haulage, will count for a lot, when out here!

In North America, it's still the Log Book, no "tachos".

A great many "semis" legally operate with out "engine governing" fitted.

So these monsters do 70 to 80 mph easily.

Companies expect these trucks to be used to their potential.

I can tell you that if you enjoyed an income within the UK rules and regs'., then you will not enjoy Canada one bit!
