Here we go.....

Just thought I'd say hi to you all.
I lived in Canada with my ex-husband for five years during which time I was granted permanent residency, since 2003 I've been back in the UK. I'm about to apply for Travel Documents to go back as a returning resident, without the ex of course (worked out today I qualify under the 730 days in five years rule) and I've posted a corker of a question on the immigration section.
Anyway, this seems like a fun, friendly forum so looking forward to getting to know you all.

Sorry to be odd and confused, but if you've lived in the UK again since 2003 how can you meet the 2 years in the last five rule. Assuming you came over to the UK on the 31st December 2003, that still means you've been over here nearly 3 and a half years (2004, 2005, 2006 and almost five months in 2007).

Hi Ben,
Sorry, should have mentioned that my ex-husband lived in the UK with me until the marriage ended in 2004. I've only just found out that as he is a Canadian citizen the time I spent in the UK with him as a spouse counts towards the 730 days (I've actaully got 921 so cutting it a bit fine). I was about to make an new application for PR under the Skilled Worker class but then discovered I can apply for Travel Documents........ I hope

Ah yeah that would make a difference. You'll have to be able to prove up to what point you lived with your ex in the UK, but as long as you can do that I think it should be okay. Sorry it didn't work out, but I suppose these things happen.

Thanks Ben. I'm hoping I can return to Canada with a Travel Document. If not it'll have to be the Skilled Worker class and a fairly long wait, hey ho that's life. Fingers crossed but I'll keep you updated.

We are always glad to have new members in our henhouse.
(subject, of course, to the usual checks for avian flu - also known as "Bernard Matthewsitis")
Actually I think there's more than a few of us who are starting to cluck..
