In preparation of my chat with my wife about moving to Canada (probably tomorrow when our little one is in bed), I'm going to download the application form from the web site (I'm guessing I can do that).
Part of me is dreading seeing the size of the thing. Perhaps if it is very big, it will be a good test of nerve and show me how serious I am about this

Hi welcome aboard
One thing to note about the PNP route is that while it will almost certainly be faster than the federal skilled worker programme, you are entering into an agreement to settle in the province that nominates you.
So if you are not sure of where you want to go or fancy moving about then a PNP may not be for you. Also not all provinces have a PNP.
Take a little time on the CIC website to look at the various PNP options because every province has different requirements.
By the by we have applied for the New Brunswick PNP under the business catagory.
Hope that helps.

So PNP = Provincial Nominee (Programme?)
As I have no job offer and will be applying based on my skills I will be the former; a Federal Skilled Worker applicant?
I know you may be repeating yourselves, but I want to make sure.

Hold your nerve matey but there are at least 3 downloads you must do, if they are the same as when I did it you will need
IMM8_1E
IMM8_3E
IMM5406E
E37023 - Think these are the notes
Some you have to print 2 of, one for you and one for your spouse.
Have one of these at hand for comfort

I've just finished browsing them, and I don't know what I was worried about. There is nothing frightening there, in fact they seem quite easy to fill out.

took us a few months to pull info together the longest being custody letter from ex husband (grrrr) allowing me to take daughter.

One word of warning though (if I can call it that) is of persuading her to do it if she is really not that interested or committed to the idea of giving it a go 95%. Emotionally it is harder (at times) than you can ever anticipate. Us females have a complex assortment of emotions at the best of times, so tread carefully.( tee hee)

Hello mate (me a "Ray Winston" type of guy).
Check out all the Prov. Gov. PNP schemes - except ON, they do not `ave one.
Check www.mls.ca for home purchase costs guidance.
It is not unusual to get a place for 20% to 50% below the askin`!
Especially places up for sale for nearly a year and empty.
Everyone in Canada is going to west to Alberta, it`s booming, so are costs there.
The Atlantic Provinces are suffering from near collapsing economies.
BC and ON are the popular immigration destinations.
My wife and I love it here in NB, but it`s dead, then again we prepared for that, so we will be fine.
NB Government are easy to deal with at present.

we are planning to move to NB, near Moncton. Visited in August and really liked it. What did you mean by 'it's dead' there? In what way? What is it like for small children (sports clubs, school clubs....)
Thanks
