We are retiring to St Catherine's after spending the last 2 years in downtown Toronto. COVID-19 has put a dampener on all activities and Toronto is a bit of a ghost town. We are moving to the north end of St Catherine's near the lake. Definitely rent for the first year. It has taken us 2 years to figure out what to buy. Old Glendridge is convenient for Brock university and you could walk into St Catherine's. Glendridge is abit too close to the university and full of student rentals = party Town. Being sponsored by a spouse is a completely different route to someone who needs to apply via one of the economic streams such as Express Entry Federal Skilled Worker (which the OP and fiance will need to do) and the requirements and steps involved are completely different.
