Default Help with renewing British Passport

Hello, I was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1972. I am currently in the process of renewing my British passport.
I am having difficulty completing Section 1B of the Smart Application.
This section refers to a certificate confirming the applicant's (myself) British citizenship.
How do I complete this section? Where might I find or receive this information? Any help or suggestions how to find this information will be helpful and greatly appreciated. I have referred to website, however, its not clear to me.

Thank you!

Since you were born in the UK, you should just answer 'No' in section 1b and move on. You don't need to complete anything else in section 1b. See the notes here:

http://www.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/p...m-guidance.pdf

"You should complete Section 1b if you became a British subject or citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by naturalisation or registration before 1 January 1983, or if you became a British citizen, British Dependent / Overseas Territories citizen, British Overseas citizen, British subject or British protected person by naturalisation or registration on or after that date either through the Home Office in the United Kingdom or through the Governor‟s Office of a British Overseas Territory. You should forward your original citizenship document with the completed form when applying for your first passport.
lf you were naturalised or registered as a British Overseas Territories citizen after 20 May 2002 you will only be eligible for passport facilities as a British citizen once you have been registered as such a citizen by the Home Office in the United Kingdom."
