Default Help needed! Truro area.

Hi guys, we are moving to NS in 5 weeks and cant wait to finally get there.
We are going to try to settle in the Truro area and are aware that we may have to commute to Halifax for work but its not a problem.
Im looking for help in:
1) finding a car! will definetely need it and im looking for a decent motor to get us about.
If you know of any friends looking to sell theirs could you let me know.
2) finding a job! Ive got years of experience in catering, hospitality and customer service but I am willing accept any jobs going.
It seems from previous posts that I have read that in NS sometimes it counts who you know rather than what you know.
Ive looked at sites such as Kijiji and was wondering if there are any other sites worth looking at.
Thanks in advance guys.

Have you been to NS before? I am assuming so, I just wondered why Truro and do you really want to make that commute to Halifax? One thing I learnt when we moved 8 years ago to New Zealand was that when we first arrived and found it cheaper and nicer to live an hour away from work (justifying it to ourselves that we took that long and more sitting in traffic in the UK) that after a very short while that commute time detracted from our home life and it became a chore. Truro to Halifax is a distance and with poor weather in the winter, a big challenge. So just a thought, please dont take it personally if you have thought about this thoroughly and then some know-it-all arse comes along and tells you different.......

Good luck with the move, hope it goes well and you find your plans fall into place better than even you expected! Lots of people here (BE and NS) to get some good advice and tips from.

Good luck with the move. Hoping that you find a job in the Truro area as it takes a fair while to get from Halifax to Truro, and the weather can be remarkably different between the two. Two days ago it was a blizzard in Truro, whereas a bit of snow and mostly rain in Halifax. The 102 was a very slippery road that day. It took me nearly an hour to get from Junction 8 - Elmsdale to Bedford junction 4c
I do work with someone who works in Bedford and lives in Truro and she does the commute every day, says its ok apart from the gas cost but wouldnt want to work there if the location was any further into the city.

You might want to consider a Tdi when looking at cars or the Chevy Cruise is meant to do 64mpg
