I thought you had to be a Canadian citizen to be able to sponsor a family member rather than a PR, don't mean to put a spanner in the works and may be wrong, but it's worth checking...

No, you don't have to be a citizen, but your daughter has to meet a minimum income level to be able to sponsor you. I understand it takes about 3 years for the first part (i.e. your daughter being granted the ability to sponsor) and then probably about another year for the next part (i.e. you applying for PR with your daughter as a sponsor).

Hi, i'm new to this so I could do with some help, how do Ifind out info? my daughter has moved to Canada & I am trying to get a job in purchasing/warranty in Calgary so that I can join her. Any tips from anyone? As seniors it's now or never for my husband & I, so were going for it!

You are not seniors.
We all live to over 100 over in these parts. lol
Is there any chance you can come over for a months holiday to check out the job front and the life style.
Do not sweat the pension yet, you have a lot of hurdles to get through.

MY DAUGHTER IS EARNING ABOUT $120000 she seemed to think that she could start sponsoring us about xmas this year, can anyone confirm this?

Yes ,your daughter can start the sponsoring application now,
since she is already a PR and does not have to wait until Xmas
to sponsor you and OH.

Hi Welcome to the site.

I am new too and just learning my way around. One thing that I have noticed is that age groups are much less relevant in Canada than the UK. The people tend to be very accepting and welcoming so prepare yourself for an onrush of enthusiasm!

I agree with this statement, we thought at 51 my husband would not be employable in Canada but went for the interview with Yanke anyway (truck driver). They said that Canada has upped the age for retirement like the UK so his age wasn't an issue.

Again you are a mine of info.Someone thought my daughter couldn't sponsor me being a PR but it seems from what you say, she can,I must say she was under the impression she could, this has put my mind at rest.
