Help - does anyone know the waiting time for LMO's

Hi all

Well my husband has a formal job offer in Calgary and we are now just waiting for the LMO - does anyone have any idea how long they are taking right now, all this waiting is nerve racking....

Thanks:)

Hi Dee

we too are in the queue for LMOs and calgary and we have submitted a concurrent Wp application to London.

There are two useful threads on the immigration forum- but I can't work out how to copy the threads over and give you a link - so you will have to go in and do a search. One is LMO timelines by gleech, the other is work permit timelines by me. Please add your details as its really useful info for everyone to have it all in one place!

The long and short is that the timelines for Albertan LMOs and London WPs are unprecendently long. Albertan LMOs seem to be taking around 4-12 weeks? London WPs seem to be taking 6-12 weeks!

When are you hoping to go and what are your plans?

Best wishes

Gryphea

That may not totally be the case, as applications are taking far longer than ever before. If you are happy to get your work permits at the airport then you will be fine. If not, depending on when your applciation went in you might need a plan B, as having an immigration consultant doesn't jump you up the queue!

Do add your timelines as its really helpful to everyone!

Hi dee and Pleas,

I would really appreciate if you can post your LMO timeline in the links given by Gaynor. I'm waiting for my LMO in Calgary for 11weeks already.

yeah your right, I'm losing my patience, no email from employer yet and I dont want to bug him about it, Service Canada is slow given that my postion are listed in occupation under pressure.
and calling them to follow-up is not an option because they only disclose info from employer. Cant do anything about it but wait. :frown:

Hi Dee,
we're going to Lethbridge and yes i wish we were going tomorrow. We've started doing car boot sales and we've sold most of our belongings.we were told it would take twelve weeks from the time the oh signed the contract which would make it around the 23rd of july.
best regards,
Sue.

Re: Help - does anyone know the waiting time for LMO's

Hi guys,

Just joined BE and reading through some of the postings....

I arrived in Calgary during August 2006, at that time the LMOs where taking 12 weeks to process. Now they are quoting anything up to 15 weeks. I know this because I work in the international recruitment business so need to be aware of these timelines...not good news if you are waiting. Word of caution also - a valid LMO does not guarantee you entry to Canada.... be very nice to the immigration officer at your point of entry because they have the final say so. I was advised by my lawyer to enter through Toronto and then take an internal flight to Calgary, which I did, added another 6 hours to my journey, but better that than be refused entry here.

Anyway 9 months in and loving it....
