Default help

I am a British citizen living in Ottawa and I have lost my passport.

I need to travel at the end of may to the UK and wondering if anyone knows how to get an emergency passport or travel docs.

Thanks in advance

I thought you might have some luck on this matter, what with the British High Commission also based in your location... but it appears these matters are now only dealt with by the Washington office.

Take a look at the following links, they include the bad news about the lengthy duration to get a replacement passport but the third link has the emergency travel application (it also advises to contact the high commission to explain the circumstances).

Call the embassy and ask to speak to the consular section telling them you have lost your passport. They may not issue full passports but they will issue you a one use emergency passport costs around £100. This is standard in all embassies to allow people with stolen passports to return to the UK. You should be able to book an apt to to do the one day passport service when you are back in the UK but check with the passport office as they may not do this service on missing passports. Either way call the consular section and they will be able to give you the correct advice.
