Hi,
Me and my husband have recently arrived in Calgary - as permanent residents (May 08).
If anyone else is in a similar situation it would be great to hear your joys and woes to date! We've moved into an apartment near downtown (S.W) and have now both got jobs which has helped into gettting into a routine. Still feels very strange knowing that we don't have a flight home next week but we're really looking forward to settling down in Calgary.

Hi,
Welcome to BE.
We're not too far south of you down in Okotoks. We intend to join the get-together mentioned in the earlier post. Feel free to PM us if you want to sanity check anything...we're about 7 or 8 months ahead of you having arrived in October 07. Likewise, have a mooch around on our blog (see link in signature line below)...bet you recognise a whole bunch of stuff!
Kind regards,
Eamonn & Janet.

My fiance and I moved over June 2007 and now live in Evergreen, SW Calgary. We started off living in Okotoks but found it too far a commute from Calgary, with not much choice of things to do for a night out.
I'm still not able to work as we came over on my fiance's work permit, but we've just had our PR medicals so hopefully it won't be too much longer!
I've found Calgary a really easy place to settle into, but not working has impacted the expansion of the social life a little. I'm hoping to rectify that very soon!!

Fingers crossed with your application. Yes work has helped us to settle in and getting into a routine is good. Meeting new people i found is taking time but i started a month long drama course recenlty which is something i'd never done before (or thought about doing!). It was a laugh as well as a way to meet others. My husband is a golfer so thats always a good way to get out etc.
